BurgerFI sold by TREW Capital

  • TREW Capital management bought company out of bankruptcy for $10 million. It is quite a turn of events for company that had valuation well over that price. TREW is quite active nowadays, it recently bought Rubio’s. 

Bain and Capital buys CapitalSpring owned Sizzling Platter

  • Bain and Capital is in talks to buy franchise operator of Little Caesars, WingStop, Dunkin, Jamba, Jersey Mike’s, Cinnabon, Red Robin and Sizzler.  This is one of many recent transactions from large private equity in fast food franchise market, recently Blackstone bought Tropical Smoothie for $2 billion. 

Blaze Pizza signs 25 unit agreement with Medali

  • Medali signed 25 unit agreements , including four opening in 2025. Blaze is expanding rapidly, recently it signed agreement for six locations in UAE. Blaze has over 300 locations across 38 states and three countries. Medali currently operates 21 Blaze locations. 

Seven 11 parent company plans to open 500 new locations

  • Beside the news of takeover offer on Seven & i (parent company of 7 11), it announced that it is planning to open 500 locations in US and Canada. It plans open 500 locations by 2027. It is part of previously announced plan to grow to 100,000 stores by 2030. 

Pepper Lunch, Japanese restaurant plans to open new locations in Mongolia

  • Unlike many other Japanese restaurant companies, Pepper Lunch has decent number of international location. It already has presence in 17 countries. According to its CEO, it signed master franchise agreement with Mongolian franchise partner. It is able to plan large expansion like this because of deep pocket from its parent company J-Star Investment. J-Star bought Pepper Lunch in 2020 for $79 million.

Al Muftah Group signs franchise agreement with TCBY

  • Sterling Restaurants (part of Al Muftah group) signed franchise agreement to open 10 locations in Qatar by 2029. Sterling Restaurants already runs number of franchise in Qatar like Pizza Hut, Coffee beanery, Asiana Curry House and so on.
